                                                         Exploring iPad Apps
Our Photogenic Robots

Exploring and applying the features of, Explain Everything, Eraser, Camera and iMovie

In this iPad lesson, I wanted my students to explore and work with a number of the key features and options found within the following Apps: Explain Everything, Eraser, Camera and iMovie. Students were introduced to the basics of the programs and were then encouraged to share their knowledge of them while working through the lesson.

In this lesson. students were required to photograph 10 to 15 different items found within the classroom and use them to create an animated robot.  Once students completed the task of collating their photos, they used both Eraser and Explain Everything to crop and eliminate features they did not want. They then added a background of their choice and applied auto rotation, flips, slides, turns, duplications and arrangement features to create their robot. After this step, students then carefully studied the look and placement of their robot parts and then completely dismantled them across the page. They then used the record function to video tape themselves reconstructing their creation.  Once they completed this task, they imported their creations into iMovie, added robotic sounds (plenty available online for free) and titles and then saved their masterpieces as an .mov file.
